Jhon's farm is located in high altitudes rich with volcanic soils and an ideal microclimate, perfect growing conditions. This harvest year (2020) proved an especially challenging one for Jhon and his farm. He and his family were displaced this January due to an increase in armed group activity in the area. His harvest was also quite low because of a longer than normal dry season.
Despite this, Jhon's harvest was equally as delicious as last year's. White sugar sweetness dominates the cup, matched by notes of cocoa and citrus. Jhon has been able to incredibly navigate the turmoil facing Ituango, the town where his farm is located. His persistence and ability to cultivate exceptional coffee given the circumstances is truly remarkable.
